The glue on the inside lining was old and the lining was separated from the base. Seemed to be decomposing. Looked cheap, and poorly assembled. Where's the Q/C on this? For the price they're charging they should ensure that it's in good condition. Very poor workmanship. I am not a happy customer and don't recommend buying from this company until they fix their issues.UPDATE- I RECEIVED A NEW FILTER QUICKLY FROM THE COMPANY AND IT WORKS FINE NOW. LINING IS GLUED IN CORRECTLY. I HAVE CHANGED MY REVIEW RATING TO REFLECT THIS CHANGE.This filter has saved my life more than a few times.I have multiple chemical sensitivities and get asthma and migraines from many fumes as well as smoke. When the fires hit last year burning entire towns the smoke drifted down to our area. We had some of the worst air in the world just outside our door for awhile. We have three of these machines using this filter. One for the living room, and one for my bedroom and the last in another area of the house. The amazing filtering of these is the only way I managed to keep our inside air clean enough to be able to breathe. The high carbon also removes things like herbicide that neighbors land and nearby forest get sprayed with. I highly recommend this filter. It lasts a long time as well unless you have very, very polluted air.My Austin Healthmate unit is amazing! I've had this unit for 22 years now, and it has been running 24/7 that whole time with no issues--what an amazing motor! Even though the filters are expensive, they last five years and clean my whole house's air. Before the Austin Healthmate, I owned an air cleaner that only covered one room, and it cost me $40 for a filter every 3 months--not only that, my electric bill went sky-high from its use. The Austin Healthmate uses very little electricty because of its split-capacitor motor. I can't recommend it enough!I have two HealthMates, one for the master bedroom and one for the kitchen/living room area. I've tried different filters. They all improve the indoor air quality. My experience is that I need to replace the filters every three years, and it's a big expense for the HealthMate Plus or the Bedroom filter. But I'm downwind from very toxic people (who are killing themselves but not fast enough), so it's a necessity.I have had the Austin Air Healthmate for about five years now. I have multiple chemical sensitivity and I work for a chemical company. Without this air filter, I would have been unable to maintain employment at this company, and maybe not anywhere. This filter has kept me going and it off the hospital too many times to count. I highly recommend. We've used our Healthmate Plus for over 15 years and it works today just like it did when we first turned it on. Excellent product, and these filter replacements are a big part of that quality. These are heavy duty units designed to work flawlessly for years. You just have to remember to schedule your next replacement 5 years out! Highly recommended.I used this to replace an allergy mate filter and it works quite well. I've several air purifies (Winix, Hoover, BlueAir) and this one is one of my favorites due to the simplicity and the fact that you only have to replace the filter every few years. Replacement is quite simple, you just turn the unit over, unscrew 4 screws holding on the bottom and the wheels, and then pull our the old filter/prefilter. It's somewhat amazing how much dust is collected by these filters.Love these filters, just not how often I have to change them out. They last about a year and a half for me in my small Fitness studio. Start smelling sour at about that time. Think it must be just the increased amount of odors it has to contend with, not sure. The good, when it is working it works well.
